These Air Fryer hash browns turn out crispy outside and tender inside with minimal oil and cleanup. Using Yukon gold potatoes and high heat, they cook evenly in about 15 minutes. Perfect for a quick breakfast side that rivals diner-style results.

Equipment

  • Air fryer
  • Box grater or food processor
  • Mixing bowl
  • Clean kitchen towel
  • Tongs

Ingredients

  • 2 cups Yukon gold potatoes shredded
  • 1/4 teaspoon paprika
  • 1/4 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon kosher salt
  • 1/8 teaspoon freshly ground black pepper
  • Nonstick cooking spray for the Air Fryer basket
  • Chopped chives or parsley optional, for garnish

Instructions

  • Shred the Yukon gold potatoes using a box grater or food processor.
  • Place shredded potatoes in a clean kitchen towel and squeeze out excess moisture.
  • Transfer potatoes to a mixing bowl and add paprika, garlic powder, kosher salt, and black pepper; toss to coat evenly.
  • Spray the Air Fryer basket with nonstick cooking spray.
  • Spread the potato mixture in a single, even layer in the basket.
  • Set the Air Fryer to 400°F and cook for 8 minutes.
  • Flip the hash browns with tongs and cook for an additional 7 minutes, or until golden and crispy on both sides.
  • Remove and garnish with chopped chives or parsley before serving.

Notes

  • Squeeze out as much water as possible from the shredded potatoes for maximum crispiness.
  • If your Air Fryer runs hot, reduce to 380°F and add about 2 minutes to the cook time.
  • For extra heat, add a pinch of cayenne with the seasonings.
  • Avocado oil spray withstands high heat better than olive oil spray and resists smoking at 400°F.
  • To reheat, air fry at 375°F for about 5 minutes, flipping halfway; avoid the microwave to keep them crisp.
