Crispy air fryer sweet potato fries coated in a smoky Cajun seasoning with just enough heat. Even 1/4-inch cuts and a hot 400°F cook deliver golden edges without burning. A fast, budget-friendly side or snack that reheats well.
Air fryer
Large bowl
Sharp knife
- 430 grams sweet potatoes about 2 medium; cut into 1/4-inch strips
- 1 teaspoon vegetable oil light coating
- 1 teaspoon Cajun seasoning Bart's or Tony Chachere's; smoked paprika blend preferred
Peel sweet potatoes and cut into 1/4-inch strips.
Place strips in a large bowl.
Drizzle with vegetable oil and toss until lightly coated.
Sprinkle Cajun seasoning over fries and toss to coat evenly.
Arrange fries in a single layer in the air fryer basket, avoiding crowding.
Set air fryer to 400°F and cook for 10 minutes.
Shake the basket to redistribute fries.
Cook for 8 more minutes, until edges are golden and crispy.
Let rest for 2 minutes before serving.
- For best crisping, cook at 400°F; 380°F tends to leave fries too soft.
- Do not overcrowd; cook in a single layer and shake at the 10-minute mark.
- Adjust heat by using half the Cajun seasoning; add more after cooking if desired.
- For wedges, cut thicker and add about 4 minutes to the cook time.
- Storage: refrigerate up to 3 days; freeze up to 2 months. Reheat at 380°F for 5 minutes; from frozen add ~3 minutes and a light oil spritz.
- Food safety: don’t leave at room temperature for more than 2 hours.
- Leftover tip: chop and add to a breakfast hash with eggs and onions.
