  • to taste dipping sauce tartar sauce, ranch, or honey butter, for serving

Instructions

  • Preheat the air fryer to 400°F for 3 minutes.
  • Remove frozen hush puppies from the bag; do not thaw.
  • Place hush puppies in a single layer in the preheated basket, leaving space between pieces.
  • Cook at 400°F for 4 minutes without opening the basket.
  • Shake the basket vigorously to flip the hush puppies (or use tongs).
  • Cook an additional 4 minutes until deep golden brown and slightly puffed.
  • If needed, add 1–2 minutes for larger sizes; check early if your air fryer runs hot.
  • Serve immediately with dipping sauce.

Notes

  • Do not overcrowd the basket; cook in batches for best crispiness.
  • Preheating is key, skipping it can add 3 minutes and soften the texture.
  • Mini hush puppies may take ~6 minutes; jumbo may need ~10 minutes at the same temperature.
  • Reheat leftovers at 350°F for 3–4 minutes; avoid microwaving to prevent sogginess.
  • Optional: cook with fish, start fish first, then add hush puppies for the final 8 minutes at 400°F.
